This has been a wonderful experience. In June 2020, a total of 39 concrete pride bracelets were sold to wonderful people in 9 states. With 25% of the purchase price going to The Trevor Project, that makes $243.75 raised. Two companies, AT&T and WarnerMedia, matched donations this month, so because of you, The Trevor Project received $731.25. In a year where craft shows were almost non-existent, I am so happy with these numbers.
All of this came about with very little planning. The initial idea came to me on May 26th. It felt so right, that I spent the next few days furiously casting, sanding, sealing, and mounting the stones to pull it off. The artist in me tends to work that way, following a whim and seeing where it goes. I ended up having to return to the shop and cast even more and I assembled far more bracelets than I expected. I’m very proud of the result; proud of the bracelet itself, of the funds raised, and of the awareness spread. I’m proud to help people express themselves in a unique way.
I plan to make this an annual fundraiser, with each year’s piece unique to that year, so I need to figure out what comes next. Ideas and suggestions welcomed. This will be the page to find them.
So again, thank you! I couldn’t have done it without you.
