Hey! I’m scheduling a few events for this year, but I’m sticking close to home. I’m still pretty weak from my treatments, which ran pretty much from Thanksgiving to late January. As a result, I’m not feeling confident about being able to put in a long vendor day in which I have to travel, set up, sell all day, tear down, and travel home. By sticking close to home, I can get some help from the family and make the day more manageable. I don’t expect to add too much to the event list, but I will be out and about a little bit this summer. You can find the list of 2021 events here.
I have started adding my work to the popular handcrafted site Etsy, beginning with the Concrete & Steel earrings. Rather than making specific pairs for the site, I thought it would be more fun for you to be able to choose your own colors. So, for each listing, you can select one of 24 color palettes for your earring stones.
I will continue to add my work to the site. You can find my Etsy listings here.
I know some of you have bought candles from me in the past, and the feedback was great. You wanted more scents and I totally understand that. But, that is not where my creative heart lies. Fortunately, some friends of mine are olfactory wizards and have been concocting some of the best smells EVER! I’m excited to announce that White Fox Black Koi Candle Co are going to start making their amazing candles in my beautiful containers. I believe that they will only have them available at in person shows, since each piece is unique. It’s a work of art for your eyes and your nose! They have an unboxing video to show off the new containers I made exclusively for them on Facebook and on Instagram.
They expect to have our collaborative candles ready for the Made in Ohio Festival that takes place at Hale Farm on September 3-5. Check their events page to find them and let them know I sent you!
If you want to support local Rust Belt businesses (and of course you do), Cleveland Bazaar, Crafty Mart (Akron) and I Made It! Market (Pittsburgh) have teamed up for an amazing holiday shopping option. A beautiful online catalog, which features over 150 local artists and artisans, is now available to view at http://www.shopholidayhandmade.com/shop-now/. Flip through like you used to do with the holiday catalogs you got in the mail when you were a kid…without the paper waste.
This catalog will remain active well past the holidays, although some vendors might remove some of their product links.
Thank you so much for your support with the 2021 Trevor Project fundraiser. As with last year, 25% of the gross sales was donated to the Trevor Project . This organization is aimed at ending teen LGBTQ+ suicide with a hotline operated by trained counselors, as well as outreach materials, ongoing research, and more! Together we raised $188.50 for the charity. Near the end of the month, the board of directors of The Trevor Project announced that they would triple donations, so the organization received $562.50!
The 2021 version of the Pride Bracelet was made up of my pigmented concrete stones mounted on wood settings. The stones were highlighted with adjacent colors on the rainbow. The chain was stainless steel with a steel heart at the end. Leftover stock, as well as other color options, will be available in the Etsy shop.
Thanks for a great year, friends! With just a fraction of the shows of past years, I still feel like 2020 was a good year for my little business. Unfortunately, due to medical reasons, I need to step away from the studio for a couple of months. I will be putting my Etsy shop into vacation mode until I come out the other side of a taxing treatment schedule. I appreciate all of the friendly customers, fellow vendors, and organizers that have made my days brighter this year. See you in 2021!
